China, here we come!

After many years, the Amstel Quartet comes back to China this June, with concerts in Dezhou, Jinan, Xining, Chongqing, Zhuhai and Macau.

We’re especially honored to announce our new collaboration with Inpulse Creatives, who will represent us in Asia and the Middle East.

Two programs will be featured during this concert tour: Around the World in 80 Minutes and American Dream. For a detailed schedule, please check out our concert agenda.

New “Sax avec Elan” recordings, with special guest Thérèse Steinmetz

Since the release of our successful Sax avec Elan album in 2014, we’ve constantly been expanding our repertoire with French singer Philippe Elan, including new songs by Edith Piaf and France Gall. In 2016, Philippe joined forces with dutch legend Thérèse Steinmetz to release their album “Amsterdam, Paris”, which quickly lead to the idea of inviting Thérèse as a special guest for “Sax avec Elan”.

Thérèse, Philippe and the Amstel Quartet have captured these new findings on May 31st at the POWER SOUND STUDIO Amsterdam. We’ll keep you posted about the new release!

Mambo!

The quartet has recently received the score for a new work, 'Mambo' by renowned French composer Christian Lauba. The piece was commissioned together with the Keuris Kwartet, and will receive its Amstel premiere in Fall 2018 at Tobacco Theatre in Amsterdam.

The piece combines typical Latin music rhythms and Pop music references with Lauba's characteristic modern, abstract musical language.

The group is already busy preparing this exciting and challenging work for its premiere later this year.
