Pop Art

The Amstel Quartet’s ongoing search for new sounds continues this season with Pop Art, a program exploring the borders between Electronica, Minimalism, Ambient, and contemporary music genres.

The foursome will once again expand their sound palette with the use of EWIs (electronic wind instruments), loop pedals and other electronic effects in addition to their saxophones, exploring musical textures from the dawn of the Synth Age.

PopArt will feature works by Torke, Aphex Twin, Franssens, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Nyman, Eno, and Bowie.

Sax avec Elan back in Amsterdam and Hengelo

featuring Thérèse Steinmetz

The repertoire of Sax avec Elan - the quartet’s show with Philippe Elan - just keeps growing.

Along with classics by Charles Trenet, Léo Ferré, Charles Aznavour and many others, the quartet has expanded its repertoire with Philippe not only with songs like Luxembourg’s Eurovision Winner Poupée de Cire, Poupée de son or Edith Piaf’s hautingly beautiful Hymne à l'amour, but is also featuring legendary dutch singer Thérèse Steinmetz.

Enjoy an unfortgettable evening full of saxy chansons in Amsterdam and Hengelo.

New Look

Some of you might have noticed that our website has had a make-over (except for the FUN STUFF pages). From now on, it should be easier to use, especially on mobile devices.

We are open to your suggestions and feedback. Please let us know at info@amstelquartet.nl, and we will pass it on to our in-house development department.

No make-over is complete without new photos. Foppe Schut invited us to his studio in Amsterdam for a great photo shoot. Take a look at the results on our new website: Photos .
