Old music, new directions

Sep 10

The Amstel Quartet premiered its old music programme during the fringe series of the Holland Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht. They played works by Bach, Buxtehude, Sweelinck and Tallis, all in their own arrangements. The quartet is always looking for new ways that might not always seem the most logical, in this case especially because of the instrumentation of four saxophones. Several more concerts with this repertoire are planned and in time, the Amstel Quartet will record a Cd containing the most successful arrangements.
