“An instrument with a sound resembling that of a string instrument, but with more power and intensity.” That is how Adolphe Sax described the saxophone in 1846, shortly after he invented it. In the following century his instrument was to become the most versatile and most expressive of all the horns. An instrument that is suited to all styles.
The Amstel Quartet’s equally versatile repertoire makes Dynamic Saxophones a veritable tour-de-force: from Baroque to Minimal music, with surprising sidesteps to Caribbean ambiances.
